Welcome to 2ecure
You have received an invitation: as a personal link, as a QR code or as an invitation code. With it you can create your account in a few minutes.
What you need
- your invitation link or invitation code – it is personal, can be used only once and expires after a while
- an email address you can access right now
- a strong password, ideally from a password manager
- about ten minutes
Complete the registration within one hour. After that it expires and you have to start again.
Create your account
If you received an invitation link, tap it. Scan a QR code with your phone’s camera. Your invitation code is then filled in already. Without a link, tap “Create account” here.
- Open your invitation link or tap “Create account”. The 2ecure registration page (account.2ecure.com) opens in your browser.
- Fill in the form: username, email address and password. Accept the terms of use.
- Enter your invitation code. If you came through an invitation link or QR code, it is filled in already: just tap “Continue”.
- Enter the confirmation code we send you by email.
- Sign in with your new account in the 2ecure app, or at chat.2ecure.com in your browser. Until the apps are in the stores, use the browser.
You can also create the account right in the 2ecure app or at chat.2ecure.com: tap sign in, then “Got an invitation code? Create account” below the sign-in form.
Your username becomes part of your 2ecure address, for example @anna:2ecure.com. It cannot be changed later.
Next: secure your keys
After signing in, the app asks you about key storage. Keep “Allow key storage” turned on and save your recovery key in a password manager. This is the only way to read your encrypted messages on a new device later. More about key storage
Something went wrong?
- No email arrived: Check your spam folder and wait a few minutes.
- Invitation code not valid: The code may already have been used or may have expired. Ask for a new invitation.
- Invitation code not filled in: Copy the code from your invitation and paste it in the “Invitation code” step.
